Strahan Beach Tourist Park Review

Location: Strahan, TAS
The Strahan Beach Tourist Park can be found at 1 Beach St in Strahan, Tasmania. The park is 40km west of Queenstown, about 5km inland from the west coast of Tasmania. The large grassy location is dated, but provides convenient access to all that the area has to offer – and there is quite a bit to do in the area.
The tourist park offers full amenities, a playground, TV and games room, as well as laundry facilities and a boat ramp. There are both powered and unpowered sites, with a few cabins at the back too. Strahan Beach Tourist Park welcomes RVs, caravans, camper trailers and tents, although big rigs might want to check accessibility before arriving.

The Strahan Beach Tourist Park was quite a big park with lots of green grass, a playground and TV games room (which the kids loved!), and a convenient kitchen and BBQ area. It felt a little dated though, and the cost was on the high side considering what we got.
The park had showers and toilets, powered and non-powered sites, and was suitable for most campers. If you have a big rig you might want to call ahead, as you’d probably struggle to get in with the room available.
The toilets were average condition – definitely not the cleanest we’d been to. The showers had a water limiter on them (which was normal for most Tasmanian parks) and probably weren’t the cleanest either.
All that aside, this caravan park was a good base for checking out the area. We did a ferry tour that was very cool and took us around different locations, a lovely short walk at Hogarth Falls which was about a 10 minute drive away, and we also checked out Ocean Beach and did some 4WDing around Macquarie Heads.
Hogarth was unusual because we went searching for seafood but had a lot of trouble finding any. We found this strange given Strahan was right on the water and there were so many fishing boats. We couldn’t find any local suppliers and a lot of the restaurants were either shut closed or didn’t have enough staff. We eventually came across Risby Cove who made an amazing dinner for us! They were very packed and we had to book, but it was so worth it!
