Stenhouse Bay Campground is located on Pondalowie Inneston Road in the beautiful Innes National Park, on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. It’s a large campground perfect for self-sufficient travellers who love to take in a little breathtaking nature.
The 25 campsites are a mixture of shaded and sunny, and all within an easy walking distance to Little Emu Beach, Stenhouse Bay Jetty, and the Stenhouse Bay Visitor Centre. The easy booking system clearly outlines specific site dimensions, exposure to elements, and distance to the long-drop toilets.

Stenhouse Bay Campground was wonderful! It was cheap, near a beautiful National Park, and had good phone reception. There was no power or water available, and only two long-drop toilets, so campers do need to be fully self-sufficient.
The campground had lots of sites to choose from, and the online booking system made it easy to pick the perfect spot because it outlined which spots were sunny, shady, exposed to wind etc. It also provided the dimensions for each site, with some spots large enough to fit multiple vehicles.
We used this campground as a base to explore nearby locations, and with the Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park at our doorstep, we were not stuck for locations to explore! The Stenhouse Jetty was very cool, and the walk along the cliffside was a favourite for the kids. A really cool beach we visited was Shell Beach, which was on the south-western side of the peninsula. When we hit the beach we found a beautiful little cove, and a little further along was an amazing rock formation. There were a few ship wrecks along that side worth checking out too.
The highlight of our stay here was probably the family of emus we saw on one of our walks. There was so much wildlife in the area – we saw wallabies and kangaroos too.
