Rosedale Homestead Review
Location: Taranna, TAS
Location: Taranna, TAS
Rosedale Homestead is located at 19 Nubeena Road, on the corner of Arthur Highway and Nubeena Road in Taranna, Tasmania. It is 10 minutes north of Port Arthur, five minutes south-west of Eaglehawk Neck, and about an hours drive from Hobart.
The homestead offers a campground for fully self-contained campers staying in camper trailers, caravans, RVs or big rigs (tents are not permitted). There are also cottages for travellers wanting a more luxurious stay, as well as a farmyard that provides paid farm and animal tours. Visitors have the option to feed the llamas, alpacas, horses, sheep, goats and more – a great one for the kids!

Rosedale Homestead was a small location, which could probably only fit 6 to 10 campers in the area, depending on the size of their rigs. The location was quite small and many of the sites were not flat.
We stayed one night, and it was a good base for getting over to Port Arthur and accessing other local attractions like White Beach. There was not heaps to do at the site, but it was a convenient base.
The campground backed onto a farmyard that had lots of animals. Martene and the children did the paid farm tour there and got to feed the animals which they enjoyed. There were llamas, alpacas, horses, sheep, goats and more!
We were able to have a fire at the campground, so long as we kept it maintained. There was one toilet and a shower that were part of the Tasman Historical Museum (the shower could be used for a $2 fee). All travellers need to be fully self-sufficient as these amenities were not available outside the museum’s opening hours.
