Old Mac’s Caravan and Motorhome Farm Stay is a sprawling green campground based on a farm property only 10 minutes from Launceston CBD in Tasmania. The campground is located at Queechy Road and is centred around an awesome big lake, which is surrounded by all the grass campsites.
It’s a suitable base for fully self-sufficient travellers – especially those who love animals! The traditional farm stay is home to horses, donkeys, rabbits and much more.
Old Mac’s Caravan and Motorhome Farm Stay does not require bookings, and the sites are accessible to RVs, camper trailers, caravans and big rigs. Unfortunately tents are not permitted.

We had a really nice stay at Old Mac’s Caravan and Motorhome Farm Stay. The kids enjoyed the big open grassy spaces where they could run around and play, and we all loved the picturesque lake and having open fires in the evening. There was fire wood for sale too.
This farm stay doesn’t seem to get too busy, which was lovely, and it was a convenient 10 minute drive from Launceston where we could stock up on anything we needed. There were heaps of nearby walking tracks, lots of animals on the property (which the kids loved!), and a little restaurant up the top that served lunch and dinner.
This spot was only really suitable for self-sufficient travellers as there were no showers, and the two toilets up near the restaurant were about 800m away (we’d probably suggest driving if you needed to use them). There was also no water available to hook straight to the caravan, but there was the option to fill up water tanks for $2 via an honesty box system.
It was a beautifully green and grassy spot to stay, and at $15 a night, we were really impressed with what we got.
