Location: Yarraden, QLD
The Musgrave Roadhouse is a popular stopover for travellers heading to the Cape York Peninsula. The spot boasts large grassy campsites, 14 cabin style accommodation options, BBQ facilities, showers and toilets. There is EFTPOS, public phones, food, fuel and even a swampy creek that’s home to local wildlife including crocodiles and turtles.
The roadhouse is located on Peninsula Development Road in Yarraden. It is midway between Cairns and Weipa, and about 135km north of Laura. The basic but comfortable accommodation spans motel style rooms, units, cabins and the campground.

The kids enjoyed Musgrave Roadhouse. Their favourite part was the small swampy creek that was home to crocodiles and turtles. We were able to sit and watch the owners feed them each afternoon which the kids loved.
We scored a large patchy grass campsite with a water tap and enough room for our above ground campfire. For dinner we treated ourselves to takeaway fish and chips which we highly recommend. We ate it whilst taking in the amazing sunset.
The showers and toilets were slightly dated and not very clean. There was paid roadhouse Wi-Fi, a payphone, fuel and EFTPOS available.
A comfortable enough spot to rest between corrugated roads on the way to Cape York.
