Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park Review
Location: Karumba, QLD
Location: Karumba, QLD
Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park describe their location best – ‘situated where the outback meets the sea’ – it’s a spot where the dusty red landscape spills into the blue-green water. The place has the heart and feel of a little fishing village, whilst being a growing industrial hub for prawn and fish farming.
Located at 53 Palmer St, Karumba QLD, the caravan park is on the banks of the Norman River, 2,154km north-west of Brisbane, 69km north of Normanton and 452km north of Cloncurry. Accommodation options include hotel rooms, villas, cabins and both powered and unpowered sites. There’s also a tavern across the road which provides the perfect vantage point for watching the amazing sunsets over the Gulf.

What an awesome location on the Gulf! You could cut a knife along the edge where the red soil meets the blue-green sea. The local tavern across the road overlooked the water, and provided the perfect vantage point for watching the amazing sunsets.
The raw beauty of Karumba was a pleasant surprise. It had the feel of a little fishing village, whilst also being a growing industrial hub for prawn and fish farming. It was a whimsical combination of the two, picturesquely set on the water.
The park itself was quite big and when we arrived very few people were there due to the end of season. The amenities were spotless, the pool was refreshing, and the tavern across the road had great food and cold drinks. Apparently there was park Wi-Fi available but was only around the reception area.
We went on a fishing charter with Kerry D Fishing Charters and had a great time with the kids, who caught loads of threadfin salmon to take home.
