Huon Valley Caravan Park Review

Location: Huonville, TAS
Huon Valley Caravan Park is a well-maintained camping spot on Wilmot Road in Hounville, Tasmania. It is 30 minutes south-west of Hobart, and provides the perfect base for exploring everything southern Tasmania has to offer.
The caravan park has green grass that could envy a golf course, a creek that twists through the campsites, and a pair of Tasmanian Devils which the owners care for as part of the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program.

We thought the Huon Valley Caravan Park was a really cool park! We stayed here over Christmas and even got a visit from Santa who came down the creek on a speed boat.
The park was very well-maintained, with lush green grass and clean facilities. We used this caravan park as a base for exploring the southern parts of Tasmania, taking day trip to Southport (an hour south), Cockle Bay (two hours north-east) and the like. There was lots to do around the area too, like visiting the local honey and apple farms.
The caravan park had two resident Tasmanian Devils in their care which was pretty cool. Normally you can watch them be fed daily, however we missed out because of Christmas – we’re told though, that it’s a good thing to see.
We opted for a premium camping site that overlooked the creek. It was a pretty spot where we could have easily dropped a line in and had a spot of fishing. We saw a few other campers catch a trout or two whilst we were there.
Fires at the caravan park were permitted, so long as they were kept elevated at a certain height (once you see their lush green grass you will understand why!). The owners provided bricks to make this simple and easy to do.
All in all, this was a really nice stay.
