Exchange Hotel Campground Review

Location: Coen, QLD
Exchange Hotel Campground is a sprawling green campground tucked alongside the beautiful banks of the Coen River, just a short walk from a pretty swimming hole perfect for cooling off in.
This campground is based on the nine acres that surround the Exchange Hotel at 42 Regents Street in Coen, in the centre of the Cape York Peninsula. The town is about 110km north of Musgrave.
The campground has plenty of room and operates under a first in, best dressed policy, with hotel rooms, motel rooms and dongas also available for hire. The Exchange Hotel Campground is green and shady, with a nearby swimming hole.

We stumbled upon the Exchange Hotel Campground after planning to stay at the The Bend, but realising we were unable to fit our large group of vans there (we were travelling in a large group when we visited Coen).
We felt right at home the moment we arrived. The owners were new and lovely, the site was shady and close to the river, and we were only a short walk away from a pretty swimming hole. We found a spot under a tree, close to the little undercover camp kitchen.
There were refreshing drinks, pub food (the pub got pretty busy at night), clean amenities and 4G internet – we stayed on an extra night so we could take advantage of this and catch up on some work.
