Carmila Beach Campground Review
Location: Carmila Beach, QLD
Location: Carmila Beach, QLD
Carmila Beach Camping is a very affordable and super relaxing council owned and run campsite.
The campground is located at 29 Esplanade, approximately 6km east of Carmila in Queensland, Australia. It is an unspoilt paradise and a convenient rest and camping area for those travelling between Rockhampton and Sarina.
If you can manage without power and water, then this beachfront campsite is definitely worth a visit.

We had loads of fun at Carmila Beach, which was a council owned and run campsite five minutes from the small town of Carmila.
What made this location so special was definitely the amazing views and beach access which was right on our door step. There were a number of camp sites and a few areas accessible with 2WD, while some other spots required a 4WD and high clearance to get into. We would not recommend large caravans or tow vehicles without 4WD and high clearance attempt the entry roads, unless confident. Try to stick to the sites before the dump point and toilets.
The location was somewhat isolated from most shops and amenities, so we would advise you take in what you need. The closest shops were over 30 minutes drive away as the local fuel station was shut at the time of this review. It would also be recommended to take in water as there was no where to fill up or top up from.
We really enjoyed walking the beaches and fishing in the creeks on high tide. If you love amazing scenery and relaxation, then this is your place.
We loved our stay at Carmila Beachfront camp. 2 stars away from our motorhome we were on the sand. We had an amazing spot to park and it wasn’t very crowded while we were there so had wonderful peace and quiet listening to the gentle waves. Walking out on the mud flats was incredible and it went out so far. The seashells and crabs we saw were fabulous and loads of birds and other wildlife.
We will return and hopefully it’ll be just as fabulous.
