Banka Banka West Station and Tourist Park Review

Banka Banka West Station and Tourist Park is an odd combination that just seems to work – a working cattle station, lush green campsites, a beautiful waterhole, a licensed pub and a few friendly donkeys.
The tourist park is located in Tablelands, Northern Territory, on the Stuart Highway nearly 900km south of Darwin and about 600km north of Alice Springs.
Banka Banka West Station and Tourist Park is based on a historical WW2 that’s site rich in history and Aboriginal importance. The park offers nice green grassy sites which are an enjoyable contrast to the dusty red surrounds. There’s a walking track, a beautiful local waterhole to swim in, a licensed bar, and a few resident donkeys to say hello to as well.

The family spirit in this place was palpable. The owners were friendly and hospitable, and made us feel welcome the moment we arrived.
The campsites were green, grassy and shaded. It was a beautiful spot that had a 2km walking track that lead to a gorgeous natural waterhole – it was like an oasis. We went for a bush walk and even took the bikes for a whirl through the countryside. The kids loved saying hi to the cows and donkeys on site too.
There was heaps of bird life around and the stars at night were simply amazing!
The licensed bar opened at 6pm, which was a great way to unwind in front of the communal fire – just remember they only take cash there. Toilets and showers were also very clean. Overall it was a really relaxing place to stop for a night.
